New holiday schedule: 24th Dec – 2nd Jan

This Christmas and New Year the Worldwide Family will be going… worldwide. As a result our programming is going to be a little bit different, but very special this festive period, as we follow our crew venturing out to discover new and exciting artists and scenes from all over the globe.

This will replace our regular 10AM-6PM Monday to Friday programming, but we have we have in store is even better – we have an exciting programme of events over this festive period that we can’t wait to share with you.

We’ll be seeing in Christmas Day with a very special 24 hour Jazz mixtape from Jameszoo, moving through to a takeover in Brussels led by our own Lefto. From Belgium we travel to Tokyo for some Jazz to Club selections with some local friends of ours. Then it’s over to Downtown LA for some sunshine in our new home base that we launched in December, before heading to Seoul with Thris Tian for a live broadcast from the legendary club Cakeshop. We stop off in Istanbul to check out Turkish community radio culture with Deborah Ipekel, before rounding off our excursion with Gilles Peterson and friends for a massive Worldwide family bash at Nuits Fauves in the heart of bohemian East Paris.

Also, Cuban-born, Brooklyn-based pianist David Virelles (ECM) and Mighty Rainer Trüby have put together eclectic selection of music as exclusive WWFM New Year Mix!

And as always, you can tune in anytime of the day to hear a selection of carefully curated tunes, even outside of programmed shows. You can keep up with us and see what we’re up to by following our Future Shows and following us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, where we will be updating from around the globe.

Worldwide FM launches in LA // 21/12/2016 // 8PM-2AM GMT

Worldwide FM is a global family that broadcasts arts, music and culture from around the planet. We are also a rapidly expanding family – so we are delighted to announce that we are launching a weekly broadcast from our new base in Los Angeles, every Wednesday 12-6PM local time (8PM-2AM GMT.)

The broadcast is going to be headed up by Jeremy Sole, a longtime member of the Worldwide unit, and now our host to many musical excursions in LA. Alongside Jeremy, our guest host will be the wonderful Jimetta Rose – if you caught our LA pop up with Jimetta, then you will already be familiar with her witty, sassy and funky presenting style and impeccable track selection. 28th of December will feature a very special guest appearance from Mark de Clive-Lowe, who will also be joined by Nia Andrews and more.

Keep your eyes peeled for live performances from Jamire Williams in the New Year, and guest appearances from Te’Amir Sweeney and Dexter Story.

Listen back How We Do LA

screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-18-25-31

At the end of last month, we headed out to California for How We Do LA, a magical evening of live music, held at the beautiful Ace Hotel Theatre, formerly the United Artists Theatre.

Presented by WeTransfer and curated by Gilles Peterson, the evening was composed of a unique lineup of artists collaborating for one night only. With the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble providing the backbone to the evening, and performances from Badbadnotgood, Gaslamp Killer, Haitus Kayote’s Nai Palm, Bilal, George Clinton, Kamasi Washington and Sa-Ra Creative Partners, it was pretty unforgettable.

As the event completely sold out, WeTransfer had the audio mastered and uploaded to give all of you who weren’t able to enjoy it first time around the theatre, another chance! You can now listen back in full below.
