    Flytones

Harun Iyicil and Kerem Akdag met in 2016 when both were searching for like minded producers. Coming from Istanbul, the sounds they represented were rare to come by in the city and this made them click instantly.

After forming ‘Flytones’ they have started working internationally with recording artists, writers and musicians, producing in a wide variety of genres. They mostly gravitate towards jazzy, funky, hip-hop, house related frequencies, meanwhile aiming to expand their boundaries in terms of genres.

Flytones is a journey of sound and an experiment which focuses on creativity, melody and the beauty of harmony in music.

    Moments of the Month

    7. Novelist freestyle over Skream’s Midnight Request Line [Unreleased] // UK

In an effort to represent an under celebrated but highly influential musical region of London, Emma Warren presented a four hour WW Lewisham special, covering the full spectrum of the borough’s sounds. Saxon looked back on dub heritage, Emma Jean Thackray represented the new jazz energy of the Trinity School, Coby Sey covered brooding electronics and Fotomachine bridged the gaps between them all. The appearance of grime mc Novelist stood out most, not just for the impact of craft but also the manner in which he expressed it. A true ambassador for his local area, he showed an acute awareness of the responsibility he has to his young contemporaries; and rather than cowering, he relishes the role. His freestyle bridged two decades of UK club culture, laying his own new verses over one of Skream’s iconic dubstep productions.

    8. Juana Molina – Cosoco [CRAMMED DISCS] // Argentina

As a singer, songwriter and actress, Juana Molina is somewhat of a superstar in her native Argentina but in Europe she enjoys a bit more of unassuming existence. That was until the release of her critically acclaimed seventh album Halo on Crammed Discs in May, an enigmatic combination of ambient, experimental pop, psychedelics and progressive folk. She joined Brownswood’s Jake From Upstairs for an interview about her craft.
