    Eddy Ramich

Eddy Ramich is one of Croatia’s long time veteran’s in the eclectic and house scene. He has greatly influenced the development of festivals in Croatia, making him one of the key figures in the Southeast European dance music scene.

Founder of the Kontrapunkt club-night series at Aquarius, one of the longest running club nights in Zagreb, Eddy brought the very first acid jazz, brokenbeat, soulful / deep house artists to Croatia. Big shots like Theo Parrish, Carl Craig, Gilles Peterson, 4hero, Martyn, Azymuth, Jazzanova, Zed Bias,….etc made Zagreb crowd dance for more than 15 years. Also as a DJ on legendary Zagreb’s radio station 101, Eddy hosted his two shows for 18 years, offering listeners fresh selection, playing house into broken beats all the way to obscure jazz.

Eddy himself confirms that DJing is his strongest point, whether as a radio or club DJ. Rich music background, energy he shares with the crowd and wish to support and spread good music. Currently he is working with the Portuguese producer JEPE on a new project. As well is working as one of the curators and bookers of the Southern Soul Festival in Montenegro.

Now based in Berlin, after 30 years of being dedicated and passionate about music, he continues to widen and spread his vision to crowds worldwide. Eddy will celebrate his 30th years career with dj gigs and other various projects the whole 2019.

    Benny Sings

Benny Sings debuted in 2003 with Champagne People. Since then he has performed for NPR’s Tiny Desk; toured the world with Mayer Hawthorne, and collaborated with the likes of Anderson .Paak, GoldLink, and Mndsgn. In 2017 he co-wrote and featured on Rex Orange County’s megahit “Loving Is Easy”, a collaboration that arose from mutual admiration: “Benny has always been a massive inspiration for me and my music,” says the BBC Sound of 2018 breakout star, “In my opinion he’s one of the most underrated producers and artists going.”

Benny Sings will release City Pop, his sixth album and first for Stones Throw on February 22nd, 2019. The Dutch musician/producer/songwriter has also confirmed two special US release shows: a KCRW-backed set in LA (2/26) followed by an appearance in NYC (2/28).

On City Pop, Benny delivers real-life observations and insights on love, holding together soft rock-inspired songwriting and jazz instrumentation with his leading piano and distinctive vocal. The album was inspired by and written in cities all over the world, including New York, LA, Tokyo, Paris and Benny’s hometown of Amsterdam.

City Pop is his most personal record yet, both in terms of his musical taste, with a strong influence of jazz and soul, and the moods he expresses. Lyrically, he reaches deep into both his experiences and his imagination. He celebrates naïveté and probes gloominess, opens up his heart and dissects his inner struggles.

    Habibi Funk

Jannis Stürtz of Jakarta Records got to travel a lot in north Africa in the last years thru touring with Blitz The Ambassador and a studio session with Oddisee and Olof Dreijer of The Knife for the “Sawtuha” project in Tunisia. While being there he did some record digging and found some incredible music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Since then he went to Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, UAE and Egypt searching for records. It’s incredible to see how the music of those days seem to be the opposite of the the very stereotypical idea of the “the Arab world” mainstream media portrays way too often. Some of the music has zero info on the net, was never sold on ebay and has been largely forgotten about, while others are somewhat classics in the field of arabic groove. Up to date Jannis has done 8 mixes of said music, that have been prominently featured by sites such as Radio Nova, Neon Magazine, The Guardian, okayplayer.com, yourmiddleeast, konbini.fr, clique.tv, Wax Poetics, Jeune Afrique, TelQuel, ARTE tracks, and many more. He played his first Boiler Room in Beirut in the summer of 2017.

After the huge success of the mixes Jakarta Records decided it was time to re-release some of the music that was included in the mix. This marked the starting point for Habibi Funk Records. So far Habibi Funk has licensed and reissued eight releases with many more to come. For his energetic DJ live sets Jannis plays a unique blend of rare and funky vinyl from Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and the european arabic diaspora. He has played DJ gigs in Cairo, Cassablanca, Beirut, Amman, Tunis, Dubai, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin and many more place in the last year.
