First broadcast date: 9 August 2018
Show from acclaimed UK based Trinidadian poet and singer Roger Robinson.
For this show, the prolific artist and singer, known also for fronting the cult band King Midas Sound, presents Horsedreamer, putting words and voice to compositions by Piers Faccini.
During the first hour, Paul Bradshaw speaks to Roger about Horsedreamer. For the second, Roger performs live and also plays new school folk artists that have recently caught his ear.
Horsedreamer is a conversation and the story of their ancestral roaming. The EP comes from BEATING DRUM, the label run by Piers Faccini, and the new songs champion the anti hero and draws parallels with radical survival in the present political and economic climate. Taking its influences from Narcocorridos and outlaw country as well as far western folklore, the EP forges a new subgenre that Horsedreamers today call gangsta folk.
