In June 2025, Worldwide FM broadcasted live from the Goldenstation stage at KOSMOS Chemnitz – a free street party championing democracy and dialogue in Germany.

Situated in East Germany and born from a powerful stand against far-right protests in 2018, KOSMOS has grown into a city-wide celebration of solidarity, creativity and civic courage. From live music in laundromats to debates at bus stops and DJs in shopfronts, Chemnitz transforms into a vibrant stage for culture and resistance.

Invited by the former Worldwide FM resident and KOSMOS programmer Tereza, our programmer Tasmin Kania and weekly morning hosts Rohan Rakhit and Valentine Comar travelled together to East Germany. 

Worldwide FM broadcasted international sounds, connecting German artists with those further a-fields. Surrounded by a beautiful lake but secluded from the hubbub of the main festival site, our stage was a little oasis connecting softer sounds to faster rhythms as the day progressed. Around Chemnitz we joined drumming workshops and had to stop by the bust of Karl Marx, as well as drinking a healthy amount of Rhubarberschorle.

"Chemnitz caught me off guard in the best way. The KOSMOS site was open, welcoming and full of warmth, and knowing the festival was born out of an anti-fascist movement gave the whole experience an added sense of purpose. Spending time with Tas and Val, deepening friendships that began through community radio, was another highlight. And representing First Light and London on the main Worldwide FM stage, playing sets that connected so well with the crowd, is something I'll carry with me for a long time." Rohan Rakhit
