A guide to the WORLDWIDE Awards 2022!

Next weekend, the WORLDWIDE Awards returns for a celebration of the best forward-thinking music of the past year. An award ceremony featuring live performances and DJ sets will be held in Camden’s historic, and newly refurbished @kokocamden across eight hours. This musical extravaganza was created from the need to celebrate geniuses who are so often left by the wayside, and as an annual meeting point for the WORLDWIDE Family to dance all night long.

This year, on May 14th, the party restarts. Here are some of the many amazing artists performing this year:

Kojey Radical’s has continued his track record of delivering acclaimed records with his debut album Reasons to Smile.

TYSON creates R&B that is both reflective and soulful, yet futuristic and is one of the UKs rising talents.

“Playing We Out Here last summer was definitely a highlight. It had been raining all day and I honestly thought people would stay in bed, but the sun came out just in time. I was so surprised to see so many people in the crowd singing along, everyone was so warm and supportive. Brownswood and Worldwide create such a nice vibe. I’m really looking forward to playing for the family again at the Worldwide Awards.”

Bandleader, multi-instrumentalist, producer and much loved WORLDWIDE presenter Emma-Jean Thackray released her critically acclaimed debut album Yellow last year and will be arriving to KOKO’s stage hot from her UK and EU tours.

Papaoul is a resident DJ and radio presenter on Worldwide, and when it comes to the dancefloor, his sets are unconfined by genre, spanning a range of bass-heavy sounds from across the global underground.

“I’m looking forward to all the live performances, but I’m also just excited to see so many of my station buddies in the flesh! Other than at We Out Here festival of course, it’s a rare occasion for so many of us to be in the same place. Especially after the last couple of years, I’m gassed to be able to catch up with people away from the microphone.”

22-year-old Londoner, singer, songwriter & guitarist Rosie Frater-Taylor blurs the lines between jazz, folk, pop & soul.

“Vels Trio, Kaidi & Emma-Jean Thackray put out some of my top albums last year, and I'm performing alongside them! Gilles is such an incredible champion of new, forward-thinking music; it's an honour to be a part of the awards and to have my record 'Bloom' nominated.“

Worldwide resident and DJ-Producer Rebecca Vasmant is bringing a fresh new twist to dance music with her love of jazz, the original form of unbridled spiritual sonic expression.

“My experience as part of the Worldwide family, is nothing but joy, happiness and all round family vibes. I have had the best times of my life at We Out Here the past two festivals, saw some of my musical heroes, and met some now lifelong friends there who have remained my absolute favourite people.”

MLE has a deep musical understanding informing an eclectic taste from Turkish disco folk to New Yorkian left field and clanging electro.

Doomcannon is a London-based composer, producer & multi-instrumentalist exhibiting free jazz compositions with a new contemporary flare.

“My favourite memory of the WORLDWIDE awards was the Ezra Collective and Nubya Garcia mash-up. I come from Kinetika Bloco so I grew up with these people. At the time I was just starting out and that was such a momentous occasion. It was very, very inspiring.”
