Equipped with a Roland sampler, guitar and as many synths as he can borrow, ERAAN’s music is situated somewhere between the urban and the bucolic, the calm and the chaos. Influenced by the LA Beat scene artists such as FlyLo and Knxwledge, the ambient sounds of Harold Budd, Laraaji, plus spiritual jazz artists such as Sun Ra, Alice Coltrane, and Mulatu Astatke’s sound of Ethiopia, field recordings are woven throughout his music, helping to document the songs as a snapshot of his life at the time.
