This month GMM welcomes special guest Amine Bendriouich is a fashion designer, creative director, multidisciplinary artist and DJ. Born and raised in Marrakech, and formally educated in Tunisia, he is a self-declared ‘student of the now’ and of the world.Mixing his rich cultural heritage and elements of pop culture with his unique sense of style, Amine creates bold, unisex clothing in his atelier in Marrakech. He works closely with local artisans, integrating traditional craftsmanship into his collections, exploring and renewing ancient Amazigh (Berber) and North African embroidery and sewing techniques. Amine’s clothing, just like his art productions and DJ sets, always tells a story. It is this story, constantly challenging stereotypes and rewriting the narrative of what it means to be a Moroccan and African creative, that has attracted clients from around the world such as Alicia Keys, Kehinde Wiley, and David Byrne, as well as the attention of international press such as Vogue, Schon, Grazia France, and L’OBS to name a few.
