In Lagos we join Adey Omotade, a multidisciplinary artist working across acoustic ecology, sound design, video and experimental music.
Adey designed the album cover for the iconic Lagos record shop Jazzhole's Asiko Tito compilation, produced with Studio Monkey Shoulder.
This DJ set captures Adey's journey to creating a new sound called "Post Afrobeat" – a sonic compilation of classical African music, rhythms and archival sounds at the intersection of Yoruba opera, orchestral, house, chamber music and oral tradition, transfused with digital and electronic music production.
This episode is part of our Studio Monkey Shoulder: A Global Celebration with Gilles Peterson, going around the world in 12 hours.
