Marcus Belgrave Tribute // 14-07-20

Trumpeter and educator Marcus Belgrave left an unbelievable legacy to Detroit and the world through his recordings and his teachings. The likes of Karriem Riggins, Theo Croker, Kassa Overall, Robert Hurst and Kelvin Sholar all learned under him, while his earlier career saw him play with the likes of Ray Charles, Joe Henderson, Max Roach, Eric Dolphy and across many Motown sessions. He also broke out of the jazz scene, working with electronic music pioneers like Underground Resistance and Carl Craig. We bring you an hour of his eclectic work as we soundtrack our Detroit focus this week.
