Spectrums: Cosmo Sofi with Hugo Fattoruso

Tune in for a psychedelic trip across the globe with music from past to the future, the soulful and jazzy to the synthetic, dubby, eccentric and slightly experimental. Enjoy the ride!

On this month's show Sofi is joined by Uruguayan composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist Hugo Fattoruso. A musical legend who has had a profound influence on every aspect of Latin American music.

In this two hour show, they discuss the Uruguayan Carnival and the fusing of Candombe (the traditional rhythm of Uruguay) with rock, jazz, funk and other Latin American rhythms, something Hugo has become internationally known for.

They talk about his musical story, beginning with Los Shakers; South America’s answer to the Beatles and one of the most successful rock and roll groups from the continent, right up to his current musical projects including touring in Japan with the duo Dos Orientales with percussionist Tomohiro Yahiro.
