The Other Side: Refugee Action Kingston (RAK)

Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is an independent charity doing frontline work to support people who’ve sought sanctuary in Southwest London rebuild their lives in our community. RAK helps over 2,000 people a year to address both the holistic and practical needs to lead fulfilling lives.

Hosted by Ellie Oakley, today’s show is a musical journey to The Other Side, exploring culture and heritage to share in the collective feelings of joy and hope that unite us – no matter where we come from. From 80s Arabic funk to the dancing rhythms of Garifuna in c. America to East African jazz, join us as we traverse genres, eras and cultures to bring you the diverse sounds that emblemise who we are.

If you’d like to make a donation to support the work we do, you can do so here: RAK's Refugee Week 2025 fundraiser! | Localgiving
