Kicking off a full day of programming for Time Capsule’s Worldwide FM takeover, this special morning show sets the tone by reflecting the label’s core philosophy: "The space between the beats defines our time." Time Capsule focuses on unearthing music that captures the spirit and groove of specific moments in history, where the beat is a reflection of cultural consciousness from a unique time and space.
The show begins with a tribute to the late Angolan musician Mário Rui Silva, whose 1980s recordings were reissued by Time Capsule, celebrating the deep legacy of his work. Featuring a conversation with Tello Morgado, percussionist and one of Mario’s students, this show delves into the history of Angolan music and Mario's impact as a cultural pioneer.
Kay will also play selections from Time Capsule’s latest projects, including Tokyo Riddim Vol. 2, a follow-up to this year’s acclaimed first volume and Choice Cuts 1978-1983 by Izumi “Mimi" Kobayashi, alongside a curated set of reggae, dub, and Japanese fusion tracks.
This show marks the beginning of a day that brings together the evolving sounds of new generation selectors from East London and East Tokyo, culminating in the deep insights of Tokyo & London’s original pioneers.
