The Mother Markos, an alias of polymath and absolute film nerd Clare Hennelly, is self taught and realised DJing was possible for them when they watched TSHA playing the emotive and hard hitting music they had never heard in the clubs. Add seeing Justice with their live mashup wizardry and this love for sonic innovation and vulnerability was inevitable. Building a reputation in Bristol's queer scene, they have opened for Grove, have a monthly show at Transgression.fm, showcasing an open format approach, welcoming everything from 70s deep cuts to Bond theme remixes to up-to-the-minute independent producers and all the mashups they can create. Playing at key Bristol venues including The Love Inn, The Star and Garter, Lost Horizon and Basement 45, their sets are refreshing, versatile and cathartic.
