Africa Is a Country Radio: Chief Boima with Sogui Diouf

Africa Is a Country Radio, the audio accompaniment to the website of the same name, is a monthly deep dive into the music and cultural politics of the African continent and beyond. Hosted by Chief Boima, the show features a mix of music and interviews with musicians, historians, journalists, and more.

Continuing in our theme of sports on the African continent, this month Africa Is a Country takes you to "fight club," exploring African combat sports and martial arts. We make stops in Accra, Ghana, one of the boxing capitals of the world, and then explore the continents' most professionalized traditional martial art, Senegalese wrestling. We wrap up with a visit to Brazil to explore Capoeira. Our guest, who will explain Senegalese wresting for us, is Sogui Diouf, an actor and DJ from Dakar.
