Global Roots Radio: Record Room // 22-11-20

This week’s record room is a special edition with a double bill of mixes to celebrate to world events this week. First up, we take a look at Lebanon’s Independence Day, is a mix of one of Lebanon’s most iconic artists, Ziad Rahbani compiled with Nasri from WWFM friends Radio Karantina. As the son of a musical dynasty Ziad was well placed for musical stardom, but he was also not afraid to use his platform to comment on and satirise Lebanese society. Next up is a mix from Brazil’s Ziminino to shine a light on Black Consciousness Day in Brazil. The band select some of their favourites both old and new which for them represent the breadth and depth of black people’s contribution to Brazilian culture.
