Haseeb Iqbal with Archie Shepp

On this week's show, Haseeb Iqbal is joined by the legendary saxophonist and pioneer of avant-garde jazz, 84-year-old Archie Shepp. The pair speak about the impact of Shepp's long-term collaborators and friends, John Coltrane and Cecil Taylor, looking at the relationship they created between jazz and politics. They explore Shepp's background as a playwright and how he channelled his voice into the Civil Rights movement of the 60s. He even goes on to tell the story of a heated argument he had with Miles Davis at The Village Vanguard in New York.

Haseeb will be airing this exclusive 25-minute interview and exploring the life of Shepp across this 2-hour special.
