The phenomenal career of Charly Garcia, can only be matched by the one of Luis Alberto Spinetta, (check the Head Sounds special of him from exactly one year ago) as the other half of Argentinian rock royalty. Trained as a classical musician, the gifted García went to become the most influential and controversial Latin American rock star, spanning a career of over 50 years.
As leader of bands like Sui Generis and La Máquina De Hacer Pájaros during the 70s, his compositions were a mixed bag of Classical, Folk, Prog Rock and Tango. For this new Head Sounds, we’ll focus the selection from his peak of creative output (late 70 to mid 80’s), from the “all stars" band Serú Girán to his his solo albums, with the use of new electronic gear (plus the end of the dictatorship) reinvented himself into this cherished mega pop-rock star.
