Renata Fernandes Aguiar, aka Rude Mamma, is a pioneer of sound system culture in São Paulo and has been a selector & vinyl collector of Jamaican music since 2008.
Her record collection focuses on Jamaican music production from the 1980s, with styles such as rub-a-dub and dancehall, also exploring roots reggae, bass, steppa and other branches of the genre.
In 2022, she built Mumma Powah Sound System to gain more independence and autonomy to amply reggae music in Brazil.
This session focuses on female voices within reggae music and sound system culture from Brazil and beyond.
