Kate Hutchinson with John Carroll Kirby // 18-02-21
Monthly show from Kate Hutchinson, Guardian music and culture journalist, broadcaster and DJ from London. She is also the former Clubbing Editor at Time Out and is still waiting impatiently for the fidget-house revival.
For her first show of 2021, Kate is joined by one of her favourite new artists of the past year, John Carroll Kirby, an LA-based jazz keyboardist, producer, composer and intriguing solo musician who has worked with Solange Knowles (notably on A Seat At The Table), Frank Ocean, Blood Orange (on Freetown Sound), Sebastien Tellier and 90s soul singer Eddie Chacon – whose 2020 comeback album, Pleasure Joy and Happiness, Kirby co-wrote and produced.
Last year, Kirby released his first album with Stones Throw, My Garden, a stunning instrumental world of jazz, New Age and soul, as well as a meditative concept album called Concept.
