Nelson George is an author and filmmaker with a passion for African American culture and music. His books include Where Did Our Love Go: The Rise and Fall of the Motown Sound, The Death of Rhythm and Blues, Hip Hop America and the recently released The Nelson George Mixtape. He's penned a series of noir novels set in the world of music with the fifth book, The Darkest Hearts, coming in August. As a filmmaker has written, produced and directed numerous films and documentaries. Most recently he was a producer/writer on the Netflix series The Get Down and a producer/interviewee on the Clarence Avant documentary The Black Godfather. Currently Nelson is serving as executive producer on the FX Tupac documentary series Outlaw and directing a documentary about the 1998 Gordon Parks hip hop photo titled A Great Day in Hip Hop Revisited.
