With an upbringing filled with psych, folk, and experimental electronics on one side and samba and bossa nova on the other, Hannah O'Gorman loves to find the common threads in an eclectic mix of sounds. Quickly becoming a mainstay in the Manchester music scene, Hannah is also one half of DJ collective and event series, Nossa!, and co-founder of community radio station, Steam Radio.
Sounds peppered throughout today's show include Mando-pop, Latin-pop, synth-pop, hybrid highlife, rock, electronica, experimental silliness, arguably jazz, and psychedelia.
Plus, in the second half of the show Hannah will be joined by Chinese American Bear for a chat touching on reconnecting with your inner child, connecting with audiences, the joy of music videos and their upcoming album, Wah!!!
Chinese American Bear are an experimental indie Chinese pop/rock duo who like fart jokes. Their sophomore album Wah!!! is an accumulation of delicious ear candy songs that have been crafted over the past two years. Written, produced, and mixed by the duo (Anne Tong and Bryce Barsten) themselves at their home studio in Seattle, WA, the album is full of comedy, groove, quirk, and cuteness, all packed into an 11 song album that keeps you smiling the whole way through. Wah!!! has melodically rich instrumentation, bits of psychedelia, doses of funk, and a lot of lyrics about filling up your belly with food.
Special thanks to Iyun, Isaac and Eddy for the additional noises and to Chinese American Bear for taking to the Hannah O'Gorman Cyberspace™ like ducks to water.
