"The Akae Beka Zion track 'Loose The Gates' and the album it's from 'Livicated' is not new music, it originally came out in 2016 but only digitally and on CD. What is new is that it's come out on vinyl for the first time on Before Zero records, and that's why I was confused as I didn't know it from before.
What I also didn't know until today, and why I'm writing this, is that Akae Beka died, young and unexpectedly, in 2019. Akae Beka was the voice of Midnite, the highly acclaimed band from the US Virgin Islands. One of those bands I've not investigated enough, but always known that people really love.. I will now!! 'Livicated' is a beautiful album, great songs, playing and production, Aston Barrett Jnr on drums among the players from the Zion High Kings/I Grade stable."
