There's a lot of new music out there from Chicago to Jo'Burg to Sao Paulo to London town. Kicking off with a little 7" slice of modernist dub from from Al Wooton he leaves it to Moor Mother and Irreversible Entanglements to 'Open The Gates'. On a hip hop tip Raw Poetic joins forces with bass-maestro Luke Stewart while the global afrobeat connection unites Bixiga70 and Little Simz. On the homegrown front Chelsea Carmichael's new album gives us the 'The Healer' while trombonist Rosie Turton reworks 'The Unknown'. It's nice to hear the man formerly known as Palmskin (Simon Richmond) offer up new music in the form of 'The Sword Will Die' while Scandinavia based Marque "Innamost" Gilmore comes with the epic 'Repatriation of the Midnight Moors' via Burnt Sugar's latest offerings on Bandcamp. No #SNC show would be complete without touching down in South Africa and Malcolm Jiyane's 'Umkhumbi kaMa' along with the solo piece from Kyle Shepherd's latest solo LP on Matsuli are equally enticing. Add Chicago's Jeff Parker and Ben Lemar Gay and a few other bits to the mix and you've got it. Enjoy.
