Valentine Comar continues her Worldwide Breakfast segment, “Breakfast with…”, inviting artists to share the sounds they rise to and present their latest projects.
This time, she welcomes Baile Ijó to her home studio, the London-based DJ collective whose name means “Dance Dance” in Spanish and Yoruba, a reflection of their Nigerian-Colombian roots and global dancefloor mission.
Formed in 2021, Baile Ijó has quickly become one of the UK’s most exciting collectives, with a signature sound that fuses kuduro, baile funk, reggaeton, dembow and amapiano. From humble beginnings on Voices Radio to standout sets at We Out Here Festival, Colour Factory and Tate Lates, their rise has been nothing short of electric.
In this special morning mix, the crew shares selections that reflect the influences behind their new EP Ritmo Agbara — a four-track release showcasing the individual production styles of each co-founder: SRF, OTDELTA, CXLI and Iyáàlù. It’s a rich, rhythmic journey shaped by heritage, community, and a deep love for sound system culture.
As always, Valentine prepares a selection around the mix that matches its energy — percussive, vibrant and full of spirit — setting the tone for Baile Ijó’s cross-continental rhythms.
