Aesop Presents: Black Joy Mix with DJ Soul Sister

DJ Soul Sister, known as the Queen of Rare Groove, has been a celebrated DJ artist since the mid-1990s and vinyl collector since she was six years old. A native of New Orleans, Soul Sister has hosted her Soul Power show, the longest-running rare groove radio show in the USA, on WWOZ FM for over 25 years.

In this very special broadcast, in association with Aesop, DJ Soul Sister presents an hour of music celebrating Black Joy to mark this year's Juneteenth. Marking the day that enslaved Black People in Galveston Texas learned that they were free from slavery, Juneteenth is now a national holiday in the USA, and a chance to reflect on the legacy of slavery, and to celebrate freedom.
